Green is a city of 27,475 people (2020) in southeastern Summit County, between Akron and Canton.

From township to city

Green Township was created in 1809 as part of Stark County and joined Summit County when it formed in 1840. Its hamlets, the best known being Greensburg, were surrounded by farms and coal. By 1950 farmers began selling land for housing, and in the early 1990s the township became a village and then a city, with John Torok as its first mayor.
