Window Replacement in Hudson

Hudson at a glance

Hudson is a city of 23,110 people (2020) in northern Summit County. The village and township merged in 1994. It's known for its historic center and as the place where John Brown first publicly vowed to fight slavery.

What that means for your windows

Hudson's historic homes need windows that respect their look, with appropriate grilles, proportions and trim. Wood or wood-clad windows are common choices, and historic district rules may apply; see double-hung windows.

Larger newer homes

Newer homes often have many windows, including bays, casements and large glass walls, so a whole-house replacement is a bigger project.

The Western Reserve town

David Hudson came from Goshen, Connecticut, in 1799 and built the first log house in what is now Summit County; a marker stands at Baldwin and North Main streets. The village was incorporated in 1837, and the Loomis Observatory at Western Reserve Academy, built in 1838, is the oldest observatory in the country still in its original location. In 1861 President-elect Abraham Lincoln spoke briefly from a train at the old Hudson depot. With so much history, window projects here benefit from an installer experienced with older homes; see storm windows as an option for original windows.
